Better knowledge is one of the objectives of the EU Youth Strategy and there is a need to improve the delivery of information on the situation of young people in Europe and on national youth policies in a coherent, updated and more visible and exploitable way. Description
The project’s overarching aim is to encourage more young people from diverse backgrounds and with different abilities, including young people from diverse backgrounds and with different abilities, including young people with fewer opportunities, to contribute to the shaping of youth policy starting from the local and going up to National and finally European level to bring about positive and social change. In this regard this project is intended to increase the visibility of the EUYD among all stakeholders, including and above all young people. It envisaged that this will result in an increase in the participation of young people from different backgrounds in the EUYD process.
Through this 3-year project the Maltese National Working Group (MT-NWG) will be adopting a methodology that provides information to young people on the overarching topic, the particular focus of every rotating presidency and also to present to young people the different ways through which they could participate, including participation in information seminars organised by the MT-NWG and opportunities to engage in dialogue with national youth policy makers, participation in consultations the questionnaire issued by the European Steering Committee and the EU Youth Conferences (EUYC).
Throughout the implementation of this project the MT-NWG will also be analysing the collected data and relaying back the information collected – qualitative and quantitative – to feed into the EU-level dialogue during the EUYCs and then relay the end results back to the stakeholders in Malta at the end of each of the 2 cycles during a conference that is intended to be organised in Malta at the end of each cycle.
During the first two phases of the 9th Cycle the MT-NWG will also be highlighting the EU Year of Youth which will be used to entice more young people and policy makers into participating in the EUYD.
All this will take place during the course of the next 36 months covering the next two cycles, the 9th and the 10th, whereby through a coordinated approach, moving accordingly from one phase to the next, the MT-NWG will implement this project focusing on the EU Youth Goals as highlighted by the European Steering Committee (starting with Youth Goal #10 Sustainable Green Europe and Youth Goal #3 Inclusive Societies for the 9th Cycle) so as to strengthening young people’s citizenship competencies and sense of belonging to society and the EU.

Description
The project is designed as part of a wider national effort to get the main youth stakeholders together, and coordinate their work to ensure a regeneration of youth services that ensure a smoother delivery of post-pandemic strategies for young people.
In this regard, the rationale behind this project encompasses the main objectives of the European Year of Youth 2022 as it intends to revitalise and highlight any local, national, or European effort to support and engage with youth in a post-pandemic perspective.
This will be achieved through a national information campaign that will highlight the opportunities
available for young people, including those with fewer opportunities, in particular through youth work on the different levels from local to European.
It will also aim to consolidate the cross-sectoral elements of youth policy. One of the outcomes of this project is envisaged to be a national youth research that will provide an evidence-base to all relevant policy makers when formulating youth policies that look forward to a brighter future for young people in line with the EU Youth Strategy 2019—2027.
All this is ultimately intended to increase the visibility of the work being done by the youth sector with and for young people on a local, national and European level, while equipping young people with further life-skills that facilitate their transitions to adulthood as active citizens
