The Commonwealth Youth Programme aims to engage recognise young people through effective participation of young women and men in development processes and promote their engagement at all levels of decision-making, including with Heads of Government. It supports member governments to increase investments in youth ministries and programmes and promotes the professionalisation of youth work by supporting youth work education and training and setting competency standards.
The United Nations’ youth strategy, Youth 2030 – Working with and for young people was launched in 2018 and aims to increase action to address the needs, build the agency and advance the rights of young people as well as to ensure their engagement and participation in the implementation of the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
