Principal Permanent Secretary Mario Cutajar visited two entities this morning which in recent months were given the Quality Award, an award which ensures the highest quality of service.
The entities are the National Blood Transfusion Centre and Aġenzija Żgħażagħ. The visit formed part of the Public Service Week 2021.
During his visits, Mr Cutajar signed the respective Quality Service Charter.
On his first visit, he was welcomed by Dr Alex Aquilina, Director of the National Blood Transfusion Service. Mr Cutajar was informed that the quality of service is so excellent that it is also used by the private sector. Mr Cutajar was briefed on the whole process from the actual blood donation to the separation of blood into different components by centrifugal forces. He was also shown the corneas tissue bank, where blood is filtered in accordance with international standards. He then visited the section currently used as one of the Covid-19 vaccination centres.
At Aġenzija Żgħażagħ, Mr Cutajar was welcomed by Chief Executive Officer Miriam Teuma. He was shown around and given an overview of the many activities organized for young people, providing both education and fun.
