Through the Student Council Democracy Awards, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ aimed to support the students within the student councils in their participation and expression. This award incentivized the schools to help the students become more involved in their school communities and make their voices heard in matters that affect their lives.
During the last scholastic year, 3 schools in Gozo participated in the Student Council Democracy Awards.
These were the:
- Gozo College Middle School,
- Bishop’s Conservatory Secondary School and
- Sacred Heart Minor Seminary.
. The participating schools benefitted from a toolkit to guide the process, teacher and student training, support from the youth worker and financial assistance of €150 to fund activities.
Each school was assessed and awarded points according to set criteria. All schools in Gozo received the Silver Award.
These visits were an opportunity to meet the Head of Schools and Student Council co-ordinating teachers. Further collaboration opportunities with the schools were discussed as well as different programmes that Aġenzija Żgħażagħ is currently offering.
