Life Skills Lab 2025 Explored. Practiced. Achieved.
During the summer of 2025, Aġenzija Żgħażagħ successfully launched and implemented the Life Skills Lab; a dynamic series of initiatives designed to equip young people aged 11 to 16 with essential personal, social, and civic competences.
The programme reached communities across Malta and Gozo, with activities hosted in Santa Venera, Msida, MCAST Paola, Għajnsielem, Qawra, Villa Psaigon in Dingli, and Marsaxlokk, ensuring accessibility and inclusion for all. Over 550 certificates were issued to participants, reflecting the scale and impact of the programme which can be included in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate and Profiling, providing formal recognition for non-formal learning. Delivered by professional youth workers, every activity took place in a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
Life Skills Lab offered a wide range of engaging opportunities:
-
Bootcamps on creativity, teamwork, and resilience.
-
Life skills programmes in leadership, communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
-
Award programmes recognising young people’s achievements in leadership and active citizenship.
-
Residential camps focused on democratic participation and collaborative decision-making.
-
Youth clubs exploring interests such as environmental action, creative arts, film production, photography, music, cooking, and social games.
The Life Skills Lab Summer 2025 had a lasting impact, helping young people strengthen teamwork, resilience, communication, and creative expression while fostering positive peer relationships and active community engagement. This initiative highlights the vital role of non-formal education in supporting holistic development, empowering young people to contribute meaningfully to society, and preparing them for the future.
