Youth Information Ambassadors – Listen Up!
The Youth Information Ambassadors Programme is an initiative led by young people, accompanied by youth workers from Aġenzija Żgħażagħ in collaboration with the national youth council KNŻ that seeks to actively involve young people as key stakeholders in shaping, improving, and disseminating youth information services in Malta.
This initiative supports young people to contribute meaningfully to youth information work by being, a space to put forward the youth perspective, a platform to co-create with other young people and youth workers, and an opportunity to engage with policymakers and shape the agency’s youth information work.
One of the main focuses of this initiative has been to collect insight from young people themselves. As such, together with the young ambassadors involved in this initiative, we have launched a survey to identify youth information trends amongst young people in Malta. The survey has been developed through a youth-led process, with young people actively involved in shaping the questions and identifying the areas they believe are important to explore.
The aim is to better understand how young people access information, where they look for it, which platforms they use, which they do not use, and where gaps in youth information may exist. Rather than starting from existing youth information services or assuming where young people seek information, this process starts where young people are – with their experiences, habits, needs and perspectives.
The approach recognises that young people are not simply recipients of information. They have valuable knowledge and experiences that can contribute to shaping how youth information is developed, communicated, and delivered. By involving young people directly in the process, the survey seeks to give them an active role in informing youth information practice.
This represents a bottom-up approach, where the experiences and perspectives of young people can help identify what is working, what is missing, and where new opportunities exist to reach young people more effectively. The findings will contribute to a better understanding of the youth information landscape and help inform future approaches, channels, and practices within youth information services not just in Aġenzija Żgħażagħ but also in other services in Malta that provide youth information.
Ultimately, this is not simply a survey about young people. It is part of a process of working with young people to create space for their voices to influence the way youth information is understood and delivered.
We invite you to be a part of the change and take part in this survey to help shape the future of the youth information sphere in Malta. We also invite you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see our social media campaign related to this initiative.
