Artivisti: Where Art Becomes Action
Artivisti: Where Art Becomes Action
Artivisti is in full swing, and it’s outcomes are already proving to be bold and vibrant spaces where five (5) young creatives are turning art into activism. A collaboration between Aġenzija Żgħażagħ and Arts Council Malta, the programme brings together emerging artists aged 16+ who are passionate about using their art to address real-world issues and challenge the status quo.
From fashion design, literature, and visual arts, to photography, theatrical performance, and scriptwriting, Artivisti embraces the full spectrum of the arts. What unites these diverse disciplines is a shared commitment to social engagement and the belief that creativity can spark change.
The topics explored this year are just as versatile and hard-hitting—ranging from construction and its impact on communities, to domestic violence, social housing, the environment, and even spinal health studies. Each participant is encouraged to research, reflect, and respond to these themes through their chosen art form, giving a voice to untold stories and overlooked perspectives.
The programme offers structured mentorship from established artists and professionals, alongside practical sessions that support both creative development and critical thinking. It’s a space where ideas are nurtured, identities are expressed, and young people are empowered to take their place in Malta’s cultural landscape—not just as artists, but as active citizens.
Looking ahead, the different final showcases will bring together the participants’ artistic outputs in a public event that promises to be thought-provoking, emotionally charged, and rich in meaning. This is more than an exhibition—it’s an invitation to listen, feel, and act.
Artivisti is not just about creating art. It’s about creating impact.
